Welcome to Camp Sunrise!

Camp Sunrise exists to provide a sheltered Christian community where youth and adults can retreat to experience the love of God and the fellowship of other christians.

The camp is run by The Salvation Army and is a member of Christian Camping International, Fellowship of Christian Camps BC, and is also an accredited member of the British Columbia Camping Association.

Camp Sunrise offers children a unique opportunity to grow in a safe and nurturing community that is situated in a beautiful natural setting. Camp Sunrise provides a reprieve from the stressors common tochildren of the 21st century: family instability and breakdown; rapidly evolving community morals and values; media bombardment of information, and daily exposure to significant world events, often tragic, and over which the child has no control. As they embrace the expansive outdoor setting and participate in activities that are both fun and challenging, young campers develop friendships with peers based upon shared experiences. Capable and caring camp counselors serve as mentors to their young charges, encouraging their growth emotionally, socially, physically and spiritually.

Children leave Camp Sunrise with a stronger sense of self and an enriched understanding of their individual worth, personal effectiveness and unique gifting. Camp Sunrise represents the first and only vacation for many disadvantaged children. Many young campers return annually to Camp Sunrise with some proceeding on through the Leaders in Training program to themselves become enthusiastic members of Camp Sunrise staff.

Camp is vital to those who live it. Just ask anyone who has been there. Even someone who didn’t want to go but was forced to, and be prepared for their very long, enthusiastic answer.

Have you ever met anyone who has gone to summer camp? Ever listen to them go on and on about that amazing counselor, or their close “camp friends” that they still speak to years later? For those of you without this experience, it must sound quite strange. I mean, isn’t “camp” just a bunch of kids and counselors running around playing games? Talk to any camper, camp parent, camp director, etc. and you’ll be told wonderful stories, filled with magical memories and positive life-altering experiences. Although we can describe the positive effects of camp for hours, camp is just one of those things in life, that unless you’ve been there - it’s hard to appreciate its amazing impact.
